TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS ADVANCED NO FLUID (ANF+) CONTACT LENSES

Volk's new ANF+ Contact Lenses are specially designed to be used with the normal tear film as the fluid interface. Methylcellulose or other viscous solutions need not be used. Each ANF+ corneal contacting surface incorporates a special biaspheric contour that completely eliminates captive air bubbles. Its surface fits the cornea in a manner similar to that of a small endpoint gonioscopy lens, yet offers complete eyelid control and lens stability by virtue of its full-size 15.5mm diameter flange. Application and removal of the lens is greatly facilitated (minimal corneal suction) and repeat applications are accomplished easily. The cornea remains clear so that fundus photography or further diagnostic/therapeutic procedures may be performed immediately. When ordering, specify Standard or ANF+ contact design.

VOLK LASER/AR COATINGS AND FILTERS

All Volk lenses come standard with the highest efficiency Laser?AR coatings available, optimized specifically for ophthalmoscope, slit lamp light source or laser energy wavelengths. The graph shows the comparative transmission characteristics of Supracoat diagnostic/argon laser coating. AR/DI diode laser coating and additionally , Volk's "Yellow" Fileter Glass for patient safety and comfort. SupraCoat is color neutral with excellent broadband performance from 400nm to 700nm, providing 99.8% laser and visible spectrum efficiency. AR/DI diode laser coating is optimized for peak performance specific to the diode laser infrared wavelength of 810nm while also retaining low reflectvely throughout the entire visible spectrum. Yello glass filtration is characterized by its sharp cutoff characteristics at 490nm, completely removing the blue, violet and ultraviolet wavelengths while fully transmitting the longer wavelengths necessary for fundus image formation. SupraCoat and AR/DI are electron beam evaporated dieletric multicoatings, applied at 300 degrees centigrade for the highest efficiency, most durable laser/AR coating possible. For treatment applications, laser beam transmission is optimized for interaction of the laser energy with the target tissue. When ordering, specify SupraCoat argon and diagnostic coating or AR/DI diode laser coating.

VOLK DOUBLE ASPHERIC LENS DESIGN

All Volk lenses are optically engineered using proprietary computer ray tracing and design criteria. The example laser contact lens ray tracing at left shows light rays originating at the illuminated fundus and proceeding through the pupil and cornea to the first contact element. The diverging light bundles are converged and redirected towards the second double aspheric imaging lens which further refracts and focuses the rays as a conjugate fundus image in the aerial image plane. From its beginning on the drawing board to final production and sale, each Volk lens is designed and produced to the quality standards that your practice demands.

GLASS NOT PLASTIC

Volk Lenses feature glass imaging elements, not plastic, to ensure the brightest, cripest views of ocular structures without the haze and optical distortion associated with plastic lenses. This results in excelent light transmission, edge-to-edge image clarity and unmatched depth perception. When purchasing your next lens, ask what material are used in its manufacture. Insist on aspheric design. Insist on glass…Insist on Volk.

CLEANING & CARE

CONTACT LASER AND DIAGNOSTIC LENSES

CLEANING

After use, the lens should be rinsed in tepid water to remove the interface solution and mucus. A simple cleaning solution such as dilute dishwashing liquid may be used with a clean soft cotton cloth or swab. All lens surfaces should be thoroughly rinsed and dried with a soft lint-free cloth. Caution: Do not clean the contact element with alchohol, peroxide or acetone as damage may occur to the lens surface. The anterior glass element of Volk Contact Lenses should be regularly cleaned of dirt and oily smudges with Volk Precision Optical Lens Cleaner. The black silicone lens holder in the lens case may be removed and washed or sterilized by any conventional method.

DISINFECTION

Disinfection may be accomplished by either of the following methods: (1) Glutaraldehyde disinfection using a 2% aqueous solution and soaking for 20 - 25 minutes; or (2) A fresh sodium hypochlorite solution, 1:10 dilution, may be used to fill the inverted contact lens cup to the rim for 5 - 10 minutes. Disinfection by either method should be followed by a brisk irrigation with running water and drying with a soft lint-free cloth.

STERILIZATION

Lens sterilization using ethylene oxide gas (ETO) with aeration up to, but not exceeding, 130 degrees F is recommended. Standard ethylene oxide hospital sterilization procedures should be followed. Contact Volk regarding updated lens compatibility with alternative methods of sterilization.

VOLK CONTACT LASER AND DIAGNOSTIC LENSES SHOULD NEVER BE AUTOCLAVED OR BOILED.

NONCONTACT LASER AND DIAGNOSTIC LENSES

CLEANING

Volk non-contact lenses may be periodically cleaned of smudges, fingerprints, dust or lint using Volk Precision Optical Lens Cleaner manufactured by Volk Optical.
